autumn 2021 newsletter

Looking skyward at a giant cedar tree and yellow maple leaves canopy.

Near Capilano Suspension Bridge, in so-called Vancouver, the stolen and unceded territories of the Squamish, Tsleil-Waututh, Musqueam, Lil'wat and Sechelt nations.

A new colleague recently asked me, “What is falling away for you these days"? Their question made me reflect on what I’m ready to let go of, especially when taking stock of all the new learnings and experiences I have had this past year and a half.

I hope your autumn is going well too, and that the things that aren’t serving you anymore are also able to fall away during this time of year.

This is the first of a quarterly series of newsletters (and accompany blog posts) that I will send out, highlighting projects that I’m especially excited about. Please scroll through if you’re interested to read, see, hear and watch more about what I’ve been up to and what’s upcoming. You can always find the latest updates on my website www.teiyakasahara.com or on social media @teiyakasahara.

Wishing you health and good spirits as these days get shorter and colder.

A new CBC Short Documentary

I had the pleasure to sit down with filmmakers Maria Sarrouh and Leah Borts-Kaufman this summer to talk about my identity as it relates to my experience in opera. Click the video thumbnail to watch.

The Butterfly Project video recording
